Formulatrix Mantis
Description
Automated liquid handler, requiring virtually no plastics/tips. It dispenses (incrementally) droplets of 0,1 or 0,5 µl for the Low volume chip and 1 or 5 µl droplets for the High volume chip. It is solely used to pipette reagents (virtually no 'dead volume') and not biological samples.
Principle
The Mantis harnesses a liquid handling arm and an air compressor. Via a chip mounted on the arm it can dispense liquids of various viscosity in 96 to even 1536 well plates. The chips contain 2 chambers (0,1 and 0,5 µl for the LV chip and 1 and 5 µl for the HV chip) that can be filled with the liquid you want to dispense. The chamber sizes determine the droplet size you can dispense incrementally.
